The sculptural embroidery of the Maple Leaf Cycle tells the organic story of mortality. Hope and new beginnings are implied here through decay and possible feelings of sadness. The air and earth elements are inherent parts of this natural cycle. While the air dries the leaf, it also signifies hope and growth. The earth is the origin of the entire process, it is the stable source and at the same time where the final decomposition takes place. Just like the craft of embroidery, this three-dimensional piece tells a story - life and death, fragility and stability, sadness and hope, temporary and eternal, are all manifested in this piece.
